This enlarged detailed anatomical model of a feline heart illustrates the structural changes associated with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), one of the most common cardiac diseases in cats. The model clearly demonstrates the abnormal thickening of the left ventricular wall, reducing chamber capacity and restricting the heart’s ability to efficiently pump blood.
In addition to ventricular thickening, the model highlights fibrosis within the left ventricle and thrombosis within the left atrium. Fibrosis represents the development of scar-like tissue that stiffens the heart muscle, impairing its ability to relax and fill properly. Thrombosis refers to the formation of a blood clot caused by abnormal blood flow and pooling within the heart, a serious complication that can lead to life-threatening events. Hand painted in color, plus colored explanatory chart. Size: 4” x 2-3/4” x 4-1/4” / Enlarged 4x.
